Influenza Vaccination Information<\/h1>

Some people can become seriously ill from influenza (the flu). Patients with an increased risk of flu complications receive an invitation from us every year in October for the free flu vaccination. The flu shot reduces the chance of getting the flu. It is possible that you may still get the flu, but it will usually be much milder.<\/span><\/p>

When to Postpone the Flu Vaccination<\/h2>

You should postpone the flu vaccination if:<\/span><\/p>

\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span><\/span>You are taking a high-dose prednisolone course<\/span><\/p>

\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span><\/span>You will undergo surgery within 48 hours after vaccination<\/span><\/p>

You should not take the flu vaccination if:<\/span><\/p>

Pregnant? The flu vaccination is safe for you and your unborn child. You can receive the vaccination as usual.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

Possible side effects<\/h2>

The flu vaccination is safe. It has been thoroughly studied and administered to millions of people worldwide for decades.<\/p>

You cannot get the flu from the flu shot. Feeling slightly unwell for a few days after vaccination is normal and usually means your body is producing antibodies.
You may notice a red spot or small swelling at the injection site, which is normal.<\/p>

If your child is under 9 years old and is being invited for the first flu vaccination, a second shot after 4 weeks is required. If your child has had a flu vaccination before, only one shot is needed.<\/span><\/p>

If you receive a COVID-19 booster shortly before or after the flu shot, that is not a problem. You can receive both vaccinations as planned.<\/p>

If you wish to receive a flu vaccination on request, this costs \u20ac25. After November 20, you may contact the practice to see if any vaccines are still available.<\/p>

If you have received an invitation for the flu vaccination, please bring the letter with you.
