LSP, the ‘electronic patient record’

Our GP practice is connected to the LSP (Landelijk Schakelpunt). Through this system, healthcare providers in the Netherlands can access your medical information if needed. This can be important if you unexpectedly require care at an out-of-hours GP service or in a hospital.

Access is not automatic; you must give explicit consent. Even with your consent, healthcare providers may only view your records if they are directly involved in your treatment. Even if you have previously given consent to a pharmacy or another healthcare provider, you must give us, as your GP practice, separate consent.
